Our Purpose
SWPDA is a teachers' association that was originally established under the name Personal Development Association of NSW in 1983 to represent and support teachers and others who are concerned with the personal development and welfare of young people in our schools.

We are interested in promoting the well-being of all students and in seeking ways to make our schools safe, challenging and creative places in which they can learn for life. SWPDA promotes quality practice in teaching personal development in the Key Learning Area of PDHPE, in general primary and secondary classrooms, in pastoral support of students and in the many school- based programs such as Student Welfare, Peer Support, Anti-Violence, Drug Education and Equity Programs.

Members of SWPDA receive newsletters in which issues concerning student welfare and good teaching practice for personal development are addressed. There is an Annual Conference and occasional workshops. For information about forthcoming events and annual conferences, please check out the upcoming events page.
